Last Visit:

Morais Vineyards & Winery has one of the most attractive tasting rooms we have been to. The large circular tasting bar sits in the center of the room under a high, vaulted ceiling. This area is surrounded by tables and chairs both inside and outside the tasting room.

The overall grounds are pleasant and inviting, a very nice venue for a wedding or special celebration. On those days, however, it can be quite crowded.

All of the wines tasted were quite good. My particular favorite at this tasting was the Touriga National (a Portuguese grape), something I had not tried before. According to the tasting sheet these grapes are foot stomped through fermentation according to Portuguese tradition - we asked and yes they are indeed foot stomped. Also enjoyed the Select Red, a very nice blend and for me it had berry and spice notes.

If you enjoy dessert wines (and want a wine glass to take home), you will want to do their deluxe tasting for an additional fee of $7. The Cherry Wine is amazing and great by itself, with chocolate or over ice cream. Jeropiga is also a very nice dessert wine.

All the wines (except the dessert) are available by the glass ($7) and if you have the time, enjoy a glass at one of the outside tables and take in the beautiful view.
